King Named EVP at Barna Log Homes

08/12/2005
Location: ONEIDA, Tenn.

Quentin King, a veteran in the log home industry, has been named executive vice president at Barna Log Homes. He was previously the senior distributor coordinator at Barna, and he has more than 25 years of experience with log homes.

King joined Barna in 1983 initially working in the sales department. Today, annual sales at the company average $25 million, and the company has delivered more than 13,000 log homes throughout the United States and abroad.

"Quentin practically grew up in the logging industry, and he understands this business better than anyone," says Darlene Branim, president of Barna Log Homes. "He also understands the customer-first, hands-on mentality that sets Barna Log Homes apart from other log home manufacturers."

King says that his great, great grandfather came to East Tennessee in the 1800's and established a lumber business in Scott County. His paternal family has been in the lumber business since that time. In 1979, he built his first Barna log structures, two duplexes and a vacation cabin on Lake Cumberland, which are still in excellent condition. He has built, worked from and lived in log homes since then.

"I was born and raised in the lumber business," King says. "I've seen the industry grow beyond the Abe Lincoln's cabin mentality to one with a more upscale, aesthetic touch, while still maintaining the families warm, comforting life style. After all, once you've lived in a log home, everything else just seems plastic."

King grew up in Winfield, Tenn., and attended Cumberland College, Eastern Kentucky State and Purdue University before being drafted in 1965. He served in the U.S. Army for ten years, including several appointments overseas, retiring as an Air Defense Warrant Officer. After his military service, he was involved in a successful real estate business. He and his wife, Lynda, have three sons and one daughter, two daughters-in-law and three grandsons.

He will work directly with approximately 150 employees at Barna Log Home's corporate headquarters and manufacturing plant in Oneida. For more information about Barna Log Homes, call toll-free at 800-962-4734 or visit www.jimbarna.com on the Internet.
