Each log home system is unique, making construction specifications unique to each manufacturer as well. In 1992, Jim Barna set a new benchmark for the log home industry by developing the industry's first log home training institute.
The Barna Log Home Institute provides the opportunity to gain in-depth knowledge of the Barna Log Homes process. Our distributors, as well as all builders represented by Log Home Builders Inc. or listed on the National Log Builders Registry, are required to attend the Institute’s construction class. Homebuyers and log home enthusiasts are also encouraged to attend.
The course is taught by experienced builders and covers many aspects of construction, from materials and delivery to proper maintenance of the log home. The course also provides great information on construction details, including laying out and squaring the log walls, stacking the logs, installing a second-floor system, roof system, windows, doors, and the interior partitions. A comprehensive construction manual, provided as part of the course, shortens the learning curve and serves as an invaluable resource to answer critical questions that may arise during the construction process.
Knowledge is power, and the institute will help you gather the information you need to make qualified buying decisions and see your home through to completion. Our manual shortens the learning curve and serves as an invaluable resource to answer critical questions that may arise during the construction process. You'll learn how Barna Log Homes are manufactured, how materials are selected and shipped, and how to make sure your new home is properly constructed with the right people, the right products, and the right processes.
